St Agnes Croquet Club

Welcome to St Agnes Croquet Club. The club was started in 2014 and we are now in our fifth season. We are next to the tennis club where we use their clubhouse facilities. We have three full size lawns. At present we play Golf Croquet and ‘One Ball’. It is our intention to introduce Association Croquet in the next two seasons.
At present we have 40+ members; we have members’ afternoons each week. In addition, we run croquet ladders and club competitions. We also play two Cornwall clubs from St Austell and Bude for the Engine House and Pasty trophies respectively. These are keenly fought!
Croquet is a highly sociable game; a game of tactics not brawn. Our members range in skill and the simple handicapping system allows players of different abilities to play very competitively against each other. We hold fund raising days and free taster days to encourage people to experience croquet – some get hooked immediately – our current singles champion had only been playing a few months.
CROQUET IS A PEOPLE’S GAME – forget those images of bishops, men with monocles and ladies in funny hats – come and try croquet – check the dates of our taster days or contact one of the committee.
St Agnes is a very friendly and relaxed club, tea and cakes have a high profile. We also run two teams in the South West Leagues for the more competitive members. The rules are simple, and you can start playing immediately. We offer training sessions for new members.
Don’t hesitate, give the game a try – you don’t know what you’re missing.
